Jabal Al Akhdar
Jabal Al Akhdar is a mountain located in the Sultanate of Oman in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, and it is part of the Hajar mountain range. Jabal Al Akhdar is famous for the diversity of its agricultural products, such as pomegranates, peaches, apricots, walnuts, and roses, which cannot grow anywhere else in the Arabian Gulf except Jabal Al Akhdar as a result of the distinguished weather. Its height is about 3,000 meters (10,000 feet) and it is about 170 kilometers from the capital, Muscat. This height added to a unique climate in the Arabian Gulf, characterized by moderate temperatures in summer and extreme cold in winter. With this advantage, the cultivation of deciduous trees, which are called sweet trees, is possible, as deciduous fruit trees are characterized by the diversity and multiplicity of their types. At the forefront of these types is the Green Mountain pomegranate, which has become famous throughout the Arabian Gulf countries. There are also local fruits with kernels such as peaches, apricots, the famous walnut trees and some local varieties of grapes and figs.
